TOP STORY: Liverpool move for Denis Cheryshev
Denis Cheryshev plays for Real Madrid. Well, apparently anyway as he's hardly first-choice and spent last year on loan at Villarreal where he made 26 La Liga appearances.
The Russian winger admitted last month he was unsure over his future, saying: "I don't know where I'll be next season." And now Liverpool are ready to pounce with the Daily Telegraph reporting that a bid of £14.9 million is not far away.
Meanwhile, David De Gea being linked with Real Madrid this summer is hardly new but Spanish paper Marca runs with a characteristically understated headline ("Semana De Gea") reporting that Real, De Gea and United all want a transfer completed this week before the Premier League opener against Tottenham on Saturday.

"I don't think we'll accept the president's offer, because the contract isn't that different to the one we signed before, so for us it's not a real offer."

PAPER ROUND: Arsene Wenger rules out Karim Benzema move
Even after ending his streak against Jose Mourinho to land the Community Shield, Arsene Wenger cannot escape questions about Karim Benzema.
AS reported earlier on Sunday that Arsenal had set aside a whopping €65 million (£45.5 million) to land the Real Madrid striker but Wenger said after the 1-0 victory over Chelsea: "No. Honestly no."
That all but rules out a move, especially given Theo Walcott's bumper new contract, but don't expect this rumour to die until either Benzema or Wenger retire. Transfer Talk is betting on the striker being the first to leave the game at this rate.
Milan in for Zlatan?
It's a brave new era for AC Milan, with Silvio Berlusconi agreeing to sell a 48 percent stake in his San Siro club to Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol.
Milan have already enjoyed a spending spree this summer in anticipation of the deal, and Italian paper Corriere dello Sport reports that the arrival of "Mr Bee" will see the Rossoneri with enough capital to set about returning Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Serie A.
The mercurial forward has been linked with a return to Milan this summer and though coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has a wealth of forwards now at his disposal, who could say no to the Swede's brilliant, barnstorming brawn?
Not only that, but Bee's cash reserves will reportedly allow Milan to push through a deal for Roma starlet Alessio Romagnoli -- who is a strawberry rather than an oyster, according to Mihajlovic -- and also rival Juventus for the services of Zenit St Petersburg's Belgian midfielder, Axel Witsel.
Pedro in for Di Maria?
Van Gaal might not have been able to find Angel Di Maria in recent days, but Paris Saint-Germain have a good idea where the Argentina midfielder is hiding.
It was reported by Press Association on Sunday that Di Maria is set to join the French champions after United and PSG agreed a fee of €63 million (£44.3 million), while the Daily Mail has pictures of the 27-year-old in Qatar (the home base of PSG's owners) ahead of a medical on Monday morning.
The Daily Star reports that United will look to reinvest the Di Maria money quickly by finally initiating talks with Barcelona over a £22 million move forPedro, a likely move given that Van Gaal previously name-checked the Spain international as a potential signing.
There's also good news for Ashley Young from the Star, with the paper reporting that the winger will be handed a new three-year Old Trafford deal despite the fact that he is, in Van Gaal's eyes, "not a Neymar."
Stones sticking with Toffees
The vultures are circling, but Roberto Martinez is keeping them at bay. While Chelsea, Manchester United and Man City have all been linked with defensive starlet John Stones, Toffees boss Martinez insists that he does not need to sell the 21-year-old.
The Goodison Park manager told reporters: "We are a big club. What we want is to build and what we want to do is concentrate on the future and we are not a selling club by any means.
"The situation with John is as you would expect. There is nothing to discuss and teams putting bids in for him doesn't mean anything."
Whether that's enough to stop the centre-back leaving is another matter, but it's clear that Stones will not be departing Merseyside for under £30 million at this rate.
Spurs set on selling Soldado
Roberto Soldado has long been linked with an exit from Tottenham, and it seems the misfiring Spaniard is finally edging closer to a White Hart Lane exit.
The Mirror reports that Spurs are ready to accept £11 million for the striker and have opened talks with Villarreal over a transfer: that's a £15 million hit on what they paid Valencia two summers ago.
While Villarreal are reportedly keen to loan the forward, Spurs want to rid themselves of the 30-year-old's services so badly that they are practically giving him away. Poor Roberto.
Sunderland are in danger of actually putting a formidable midfield together for the coming season. The Mirror reports that Yann M'Vila will complete a move from Rubin Kazan to the Stadium of Light if he passes a medical on Monday, while Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat is also closing on a loan deal for QPR midfielder Leroy Fer.
